Wear-Resistant Plate
The arithmetic of wear plate is friendly: pay a little more for the plate, save the downtime of changing it. GB/T24186 sorts wear steels by Brinell hardness from NM360 to NM600 — the bigger the number, the harder and more abrasion-resistant, and the harder to fabricate. The trick is matching hardness to the wear mode, not simply buying the hardest plate on the shelf.

Ordering notes
NM series is hardened first, worn later — as-delivered hardness fights sliding, sand-on-steel abrasion. MN13 works the other way, hardening under impact, which suits jaw plates and crusher parts. Mixing them up doubles wear in one direction and cracks plate in the other.
Fabrication notes: plasma or laser with preheat for thick NM500 and above; low-hydrogen consumables for welding, with a filler one hardness step below the parent metal; cold bending with a radius of 3–5× thickness. NM400 or NM500?
Judge by wear intensity and replacement cost. NM400 is plenty for hoppers and body floors; crusher circuits and high-drop chutes earn their keep with NM450/NM500. Blindly specifying maximum hardness invites cracking.
When does MN13 make sense?
Impact-dominated wear. MN13 work-hardens at the surface while staying tough in the core — jaw plates, track shoes, crossings. For pure sliding wear it is the wrong tool; NM grades win there.
Can wear plate be bent?
Yes, with discipline: inside radius of 3–5× plate thickness (larger for higher hardness), bend line across the rolling direction, and hot forming for NM550 and above where cold bending is impractical.
